Fearne is a multi-disciplinary design and construction service who integrate traditional techniques and modern innovations to produce high-quality building projects that add long-lasting value to your environment. From building construction to furniture making, Fearne utilise craftmanship, creative solutions and a strong understanding of materials and process to bring ideas to life.
PLANNING
When a client has an idea but needs a hand with design and planning, Fearne provides the creative support and expertise to produce detailed concept and structural drawings so informed decisions can be made. We can also drive your project forward by navigating planning and building applications on your behalf.
CHARTERED SURVEYING
Toby is a Chartered Building Surveyor and regulated by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to ensure he delivers a high standard of service and is RICS compliant. He provides detailed structural surveys with accompanying reports and CAD drawings for any projects you have in mind.
DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION
We take responsibility for our projects from planning to completion, even when we are collaborating with other professional services. Fearnes experience in design and construction helps us define your budget, coordinate your project and deliver on time.
GREEN ENERGY
Increasingly we have been engaging in projects that include improving our clients energy efficiency and reduce their environmental impact. Recent projects include developing a fully off grid barn conversion plus the installation of thermal stores and photovoltaic solar panels.
CONSERVATION
Fearne has years of experience in building conservation and restoration from commercial buildings to smaller residential projects. Our consultation and joinery skills, and eye for detail, compliment working with complex building regulations and delicate environments to conserve, repair and restore.
SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS
Sustainability practices are essential to our design and manufacturing. Wherever possible local high-quality materials are sourced, and original materials re-used. Innovation is also important. We are Accoya Certified. Accoya is a modified FSC certified wood providing environmental credentials we like to be associated with.
TOBY BOLLAND
Toby is a Chartered Building Surveyor with 25 years’ experience in commercial and residential building projects. He moved back to Devon 5 years ago to redevelop property and provide consultancy services, with particular interest in eco building and conservation. His high production values and understanding of processes are key to Fearne’s working practice; designing, managing skills and overseeing projects from initial idea to completion.

GLEN SHERLOCK
Glen has over 30 years’ experience in the building trade, twenty of those specialising in Joinery. Initially building kitchens alongside bespoke rustic and green products, Glen’s skills now span the woodworking spectrum. From his workshop in Manaton he specialises in furniture and building joinery, taking particular pleasure working with locally sourced oak and ash. Sustainability and craftmanship are central to his working practice.
